Update the Controller Driver for your O/S (you did not mention if it was NT/Win2K/Win2K3) from here:

Next, update the bios, if necessary, for the controller. It would be best to perform this update "offline" either with a SmartStart (6.x or later version) or with the ROMPaq diskettes.
The download the version of ACU listed from the above link for your O/S. This should get you going.
