migrate scsi disk

I have a proliant ml350 with one boot disk on the integrated scsi interface.
Now i would buy a smartarray 532 and another disk.
If i migrate my original disk on the smartarray with raid 1 (mirror) configuration, i must reinstall operative system?

Re: migrate scsi disk

Anybody correct me if I am wrong, as I come from the exHP side, but I would recommend the following process - shut off the server, hook the original disk to the new controller and check it is booting okay. The problem could be in SCSI/RAID OS driver. When the system starts, shut it off again, connect the new disk, start again and do the migration to RAID 1 in the ACU.

Re: migrate scsi disk

When you attach this drive to the 532, it will not recognize any array configured, because there isn't one. It'll then ask you what you want to do with this single drive. The only option will be a raid 0 (obviously adding an additional drive will give you the raid 1 option).

Whenever a new array is creating on a Smart Array controller it will destroy any existing data.

Sorry. I never answered the question.

Yes, it'll require reinstalling the OS.
