move raid5 array from 6i to 6402

I have a DL380-G4 running windows2003std with a raid1 mirror of 2x 36.4GB U320 15k disks, and a second array, raid5 4x 300GB U320 10k disks, all attached to the 6i controller.
The raid5 is performing poorly, can i install a 6404 and move the raid5 array to the new controller?, will windows recognize and use the moved logical disk?
thanks

Hi,

Yes you should be able to do what you want.
As far as I'm aware the 640x uses the same driver as the 6i so windows should see the moved disk without any issues.

Re: move raid5 array from 6i to 6402

Hi Rob,

So the way to go would be, shutdown server, install 6402, connect cable of raid5 array from 6i to 6402, startup server.

Or do i need to make changes in ACU first.

Re: move raid5 array from 6i to 6402

Hi,

Yes I believe that will work.
The configuration for the array is stored on the disks, so you shouldn't have to do anything in ACU. The 6400 should recognise the array when it boots up.
