mpx110 connected to EVA4100 controller with direct mode

I am install two EVA, 8100 is local, and 4100 is remote. They want to do CA via FCIP device mpx110. In the local, 8100 connect to san switch and mpx110 also connect to san switch. In the remote, 4100 connect to mpx110 directly without san switch. So I want to inquire if it is avaliable, why I cann't find remote 4100 via local SMA. Pre-sale didn't advise cu to buy switch for 4100.

Thanks a lot.

please see page33 on the below link. Single SMA per site is mandatory.

But a single management server MUST be able to access both EVAs in a CA relationship.

The MPX110 is meant to act as a bridge between two SAN islands. Both units must be connected to FC switches on both sides.

Last time I configured a fcip gateway, there was no supported option to directly connect to an EVA. Only the iSCSI gateway product had direct EVA attachment support.

Re: mpx110 connected to EVA4100 controller with direct mode

As Steven and Uwe said the mpx110 routes between two switched fabrics, thus you need switches on both sides in order to have a supported configuration.

Out of the mpx110 user guide:
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01217690/c01217690.pdf

FCIP enables connectivity between geographically dispersed FC devices over an IP network. To deploy FCIP, two mpx110 gateways are required. Each gateway is configured for FCIP and connected to a fabric. The gateways are connected to each
other through an IP network (LAN/WAN)
