Re: new disk installation

Hello,

Check that the PROM revision is 8.02 if you have the Sauna SP. If you have the Phoenix SP, the PROM revision should be 1.73 in order to recognise the disks.

PROM revision can be seen in the Presentation menu under Gridmanager on the upper left corner of your screen.

Re: new disk installation

Hi Mark,

Yes the disk yellow led's should go off before you attempt to use those disk. Yellow led indication on the disk is an indication of a fulty disk. Once you power on the array, wait for a couple of minutes for the array to boot and come to ready state. If you have a serial cable connected to the serial port on the array, you should be able to see the bootup messages.

Hope this helps.

Re: new disk installation

This is a critical production system. Can I remove and reseat the disks without affecting the system in an attempt to correct this problem?

Re: new disk installation

From gridmanager the prom is 1.63. Will this cause the led fault light to be on for these 18 gig disks.

Re: new disk installation

Hello,

I think that if the firmware version is lower than it should, the disk array would not recognise the disks and would think that the disks are faulty.

You need PROM version 1.73 or higher to be able to recognise the 18Gb disks.

Call your HP tech and tell him to upgrade the firmware of the SPs to Revision 9.55.01 (corresponding PROM is 1.73).
