question on VA7100 controller

I have a VA7100 with only one I/O controller with 256MB of cache. Anyone knows if I can order a field upgradable parts for two I/O controllers with 1GB cache each? I want two controller for the VA7100 with 1GB cache each. If yes, what is the part number? Is the upgrade easy to do?

I like to do the upgrade before I lay down my data.

Thanks

Re: question on VA7100 controller

Jimmy,

On http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/products/disk_arrays/midrange/va7100/supplies/index.html is an overview of all add-ons for the VA7100.
So I guess you will need 1 A6188A, 2 A6187A's and 1 FC-cable (different lengths available).

Upgrading cache memory requires special procedures, because your cache and maps are in memory. Contact your local HP-support centre for advice!

Good luck,

Marco.

Re: question on VA7100 controller

Thanks Marco - Since I already have the VA7100 array, I'll order two A6187A and one fibre cable. Would you know if the controllers are easy to install? I currently don't have any data on the array. Do I need to do anything special?
