replacing disk in FC60

Hello,

I have a FC60 raid controller.
There is a LUN configured as raid5 (hardware raid , no software like veritas).
One of the disks in the raid had problems and we replaced it with a new one:
The LUN status is: DEGRADED MODE
The new replaced disk status is : UNASSIGNED.

How can I add this replaced disk back to the LUN, so it will not be in DEGRADED mode ?

The LUN is ~750GB , so I preffer no bacup-restore solutions.

Thanks !

Re: replacing disk in FC60

You probably need to format the disk. Usually thre is a command to auto format disks on inclusion, but it is a while since I did anything like this on FC60.. try "man amcfg" and "man ammgr".

Good luck..

Re: replacing disk in FC60

Danny,
I hope you have SDM installed on your system.
Go thr' SAM, diskdevices&filesystems, choose disk devices, Select FC60 device from the list, go to Actions TAB, Select launch SDM.

There you will able to add the disk to the RAID 5 LUN. It is simple and user friendly action.

What is SDM ?

You sure it is possiable to add the disk, which is in UNASSIGNED state to the LUN ?

Re: replacing disk in FC60

Danny SDM is Storage Device Manager and its a GUI interface to the FC60. It comes along with FC60, look out if you see CD's saying SDM.
It does the same task what you do thr command line but will help you understand in better way what the problem is.
