rp3440-4 - HP-UX - Dual controller MSA1000 compatibility issue

Dear All ,

I am new to HP-UX field . We have ordered following hardware from HP-
(1) rp3440-4 with 2 FC HBA (2) MSA1000 dual controller . There will be
direct connectivity between the server and MSA1000. But as per the
document given in the following link it states that HP-UX doesn't
support dual controller configuration with MSA1000.

Is it true ?
Does any one of you have this kind of setup ? Kindly reply on urgent basis.

Hi,

I haven't got any MSA1000 in my site.
But from the link, the MSA1000 can configure to have redundant controllers.

Hi,

HPUX is not supported with a dual controller on an MSA1000.

You need a specific Firmware for HPUX on your MSA controller.

You ordered a non supported configuration

This software is still not available. There is ongoing rumor that the MSA1500cs _might_ offer active/active firmware that is suitable for HP-UX multipath support. If this will make it to the MSA1000, too - well, that is just another question.

Dear Warren,
The dual controller configuration with MSA1000 is supported only on linux and windows system. Multipathing softwares are also available for this OS'es. But for HP-UX this support is not there.Hence i have put this query.

Multipath is also supported for:
- NetWare
- OpenVMS
- Tru64 Unix
- VMware ESX server
