Re: storage suggeston

Hi,

1) https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-5972 - only used on Cisco SAN switches.

2)
XP - Up to 6 racks? and more complex and control.
EVA (8400) - Max 1.5 racks or 324 disks. Less complex but easy to admin.
EVA is made by HP and XP is a re-branded HDS USP.

Some hds advertisment:
http://forums.hds.com/index.php?showtopic=756

3) XP uses raid/array groups and EVA uses disk groups. They're two different concepts. For the EVA to get most performance you would want to put as many disks in the same disk group.
How big disk group you would require depends on how much load you would put on it (iops, MB/s, response time requirements.. etc)

4) switch from what??

Re: storage suggeston

The XP has a feature that lets you put the EVA behind the XP - external storage.

Maybe with that you can migrate without mounting the old LUN and the new LUN on the same server and copying :)
