We have an EVA3000 with 2C2D,
Is it possible to use these disk enclosures to upgrade our EVA4100(2C2D) having XCS6110.
I have doc for upgrade from eva3/5k to eva4/6/8k

Re: upgrade eva4100

Hello,

AFAIK it's not possible. The EVA3000 uses M5314A enclosures and you have to use M5314C enclosures for a EVAx100.

Re: upgrade eva4100

is there a guide or wp since we need it to share it with the management.
Is there no way to upgrade an M5314A to
M5314C by changing or replacing the EMU

Re: upgrade eva4100

Hello,

AFAIK you can replace the EMUs, but you should log a call at HP for clarification. Maybe another forum member knows it better. :)

Re: upgrade eva4100

Yes, the upgrade can be done, but you'll keep only the hard disks, disk enclosure chasis and power supplies.

The M5314A can be converted to a M5314C by replacing the I/O modules and EMU. Then you'll have to add two HSV200 / HSV210 controllers and loop-switches.

See attached doc.

Re: upgrade eva4100

hi vcespoon,
thanks for the confirmation and doc.
We just want to use the 2 disk enclosures from the EVA3k in EVA41K.
also can you confirm the EO Support for EVA3k from HP

Solution

Re: upgrade eva4100

The enclosures for an EVA4100 need:

I/O Module A : 364549-009
I/O Module B : 364548-009
EMU : 375393-005

The EVA3000/5000 are still on support if they have 3110 or 4100 firmwares. No new firmwares are planned. No end of support data for the moment, but they are being retired and replaced by new EVAs in many customers.
