using both sockets
Hello, I'm not sure if i'm posting in the right place, but here goes!
I have a SCSI card i've rescued from a Prosignia 200 server.
I've identified it as a 'Wide-Ultra Controller' P/N 003654-002
The board has 2 internal sockets on it, each different.
I'm trying to connect a 4.3 GB scsi drive to the smaller socket, and a CD writer to the larger.
If I plug both in, win2k says the controller cant start.
If I plug only 1 in, it will work.
I have installed the card as 'Compaq 32bit Ultra SCSI Controller /p', and it uses the 'CPQ32FS2.sys' driver.
I have checked the SCSI adressing, and there are no conflicts.
I dont know if it's worth noting that the card will not allow me to boot from the scsi!
Thank-you for your help. Simon

Re: using both sockets
Simon,
The SCSI card has both a 50-pin and 68-pin connector on the top of the card. They are logically the same SCSI channel. Therefore you can only use one at a time. You will need to install another SCSI card if you needed to use 2 channels.
For the not booting to this controller problem: What server are you placing it in? If it is a Compaq server, you can go into the F10 system configuration and make sure that the boot order for this controller is set to "first".
Have a nice day,
Mike
