Re: using va7400 in an AIX enviroment

According to the docs the VA is supported for use with AIX, but you still need a server with a supported OS for command view sdm to do the management (Win/HP-UX).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Here you find the requested info

You can also configure the VA7400 through the RS232 port instead off management station

Re: using va7400 in an AIX enviroment

one thing i am not sure is that: after i connect the va7410 to the AIX enviroment directly of through SAN, will those LUN that configured in the va7410 recognize by the AIX os, not needing installing additional softwares on the AIX os?
the other thing is: is the management platform that installing commandview necessery for a va7410? could i just manage the array through RS232 port?

thank you for your reply

Re: using va7400 in an AIX enviroment

In order to present a LUN to AIX you must set the host_port_behavior to AIX for the servers WWN.

See the commandview manual for that.

AFAIR you need commandview to manage things like this host_port_behavior, secure manager and others.

Only basic functions are available from the serial console.

If the AIX server is your only connected server, you can set the controllers port to AIX mode as a default (even from VFP).

Hope this helps!

Latest version Commandview SDM is 1.09.02.
