Storage Boards Cleanup
To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

va7100 can not deallocate space in redundancy group

I currently show 136 Gb for

**stats**
rg 1
5 disks
333G total physical size
50G allocated to regular LUN's
136 used for redundancy
80 G unallocated

redundancy and I only have 1 50G lun created on va, when trying to create a new lun I get this message:

insufficient physical disk storage capacity present for the LUN operation to be
completed.

Any thoughts on how to de-allocate space in a redundancy group or do I not understand some basic concept?

thanks.

I guess this space is reserved as active hot spare. You can disable it, and then space will be available for LUN creation

Re: va7100 can not deallocate space in redundancy group

I see 66.x Gb allocated for active hot spare, which for 73Gb drives sounds correct. Is redundancy used interchangeably with mirror or raid 1/0 ???

Thanks for responding and for further clarification.

This capacity is used for RAID1/0 mirroring and RAID5DP parity. It's automatic and you can not change it.
