va7410 connected to 2 rx4620 in cluster
A sanity check:
We have 2 rx4620 nodes in a cluster. we need to add a 3rd node.
the current va7410 is directly connected to the two nodes. node1 and node2.
In SDM do I change the topology from Private aatched to Fiber Attached Point to Point or Public loop?
Also on the SAN switch I only need to run 2 fibers from the va7410 and not all 4 fibers.
please advise,
Donny

Hi,
from VA7410 to SAN switch you can have 2 fibers - it is correct but with 4 fibers there is better redundancy.

Re: va7410 connected to 2 rx4620 in cluster
I assume the reason for having the SAN switch is to move away from arbitrated loop to fabric. If so the VA topology needs to be setup for 'Direct Fabric Attach'. The fibre channel interfaces in the nodes must also be fabric aware.
If HP-UX is the OS, fabric aware cards have the device name 'td'. Check with 'ioscan -fn'. Also the hardware path to the VA will change to take into account the domain ID and port number of the switch.
