xp BC restore from leaf SVOL to root PVOL in cascade env

I need to restore from leaf SVOL to root PVOL in cascade bc env.
----
PVOL(root) -> SVOL(node) -> SVOL(leaf)
----

Business copy software user guide says,
----
Table 29 Relationship between L1 Pair Status and L2 Pair Operations
...
Note that you cannot perform backward resynchronization(that is, Reverse Copy or Quick Restore)
----

Is there any way to restore from leaf SVOL to root PVOL?

thanks.

Re: xp BC restore from leaf SVOL to root PVOL in cascade env

I've always done this is a few steps:
1) suspend the pair, then resync the pair (ensure data is good)
2) full simplex split
3) then establish a BC pair between the leaf and the root, then pair with a -vr/vl (depending on side)

You lose the full sync of the BC pairing, but it this scenario it doesn't sound like you need to preserve the pair at this time. You can simply re-establish the pairing once completed.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!
- Make sure you get the O/S or whoever uses the disks to flush their disk cache, to make sure you have a clean set of data. On linux, you can use "sync", others I would check documentation for the O/S, or shutdown the machines that own the data, PRIOR to performing the operations.
