Adding Virtual Tape Drives to VLS 6500

Hi,

I am trying to add 4 more virtual tape drives to our vls6500. I am very new to this and am a little unsure of what port mapping to assign.

We currently have 4 tape drives already, 2 are mapping to port 0 and 2 are mapped to port 1. Can I just add these other 4 to port 3???

Also what is this port mapping, sorry if these are very simple questions and I appreciate any answers

Re: Adding Virtual Tape Drives to VLS 6500

Those are the 4 fiber channel ports on the library system node. You associate each library or drive with one of the ports, so it will appear there.

Hi,

For a future reference you can have this guide with you.

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01679772/c01679772.pdf

Page 172 onwards has the best practices on creating drives and libraries.

Hope this helps.
