StoreOnce and RMC connectivity with 3par
Hi Experts,
I've a question regarding SAN zoning configuration of RMC with StoreOnce and 3par. i want to perform express protect through RMC [I heard that express protect directly backup from 3par to StoreOnce].
How should i zoned RMC with StoreOnce and 3par ?[RMC=>VM installed on ESXi with passthrough]
Should i use single initiator , single target or RMC + StoreOnce +3PAR in one zone ?
If there is any document available,Please share the link.
any advice would be highly appriciated.
many thanks

Re: StoreOnce and RMC connectivity with 3par
hi
there is not much in documantation
HPE Recovery Manager Central 3.0.0 User Guide
Hpe Storeonce Recovery Manager Central Deployment and best practices
HPE Recovery Manager Central 3.0.0 for VMware User Guide
you must use VMware VMDirectPath to configure HBA on RMC
and you must zone these hba's with 3PAR and another zone with Storeonce
also don't configure RMC as host on 3PAR because it will fail your job
I have used single initiator to multipule targets. but most important is that RMC sees
3PAR and Storeonce.

Re: StoreOnce and RMC connectivity with 3par
Initially, I did with single initiator and single target but i'm not sure single initiator with multiple target will improve the throughput.
One more question, should I choose dedicated 3par back end ports or mix with other back end ports ?
Thanks

Re: StoreOnce and RMC connectivity with 3par
Hi
according to HPE support you don't need dedicated ports
also RMC supports only 2 paths to 3PAR.
If you have enough ports it could be better to use dedicated ports
but it is not a must.
Regards
If this helps give a Kudo

Re: StoreOnce and RMC connectivity with 3par
Hi,
paths to 3par - we will actually use as many as we find.
Generally, we have recommended that folks use separate zones for RMC VM->3Par and RMC VM->StoreOnce if using FC.
However, there's nothing stopping you putting that in the same zone; it's just that you'll share bandwidth / ports.
