VLS 1000i and Veritas 10d
Hi I am trying to demo a VLS1000i connected to an DL360 via an ISCSI card QLA4050C. Windows 2003 SP1. I have set up an Virtual 1/8 autoloader from the VLS1000i and the Windows Manager see the HP robotic and the HP LTO drive. But when I install veritas 10d SP3 with the latest Device Driver, Veritas reports the Robotics as
Offline, ERROR = 0x0000007B (ERROR_INVALID_NAME)
And then assumes the LTO is standalone. How do I get the VLS1000i to be reported as a Virtual Library in Veritas not as a standalone unit?
Below is the output from DIAGNOSTICS from veritas.
Many thanks
0004:0000:0000:0000 Device Name ""
Primary Inquiry "HP ThinStor AutoLdr1.20"

P.S. This thread has been moevd from Tape Backup (Small and Medium Business) to Disk-Based Backup. - Hp forum moderator

Re: VLS 1000i and Veritas 10d
http://download1.veritas.com/support/products/Backup_Exec_for_WindowsNT/281670.pdf
The problem is known with some devices, here is a link to Veritas forum.
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/251561.htm
I have seen this issue fix by running tapeinst.exe and selecting the option to use veritas drivers for all tape devices after updating BUE to the latest. to locate tapeins.exe just run a search, it should be somewhere under the installation folder for veritas.
