145 GB disk in MA8000 / HSG80

Hello all,

Is it possible to add 148 GB disks to a MA8000 (with HSG80 controllers).

Thank you very much!

Yes, ACS V8.6 with current patch level or ACS V8.7, again with current patch level should do it. Remember that you are still limited to a maximum unit size of 1 TeraBytes.

Is it also required to check the firmware of the disk, or can I just plug-in the disk?

Marcel,
so far I never had a need to update firmware. There should be a list of supported disk drives in the release notes of each platform kit, but I think they have not been updated for quite some time.

If you want to go absolutely safe, then I am afraid you have to talk to HP support.

We've used these disks in our EMA12000/HSG80 for quite some time. I believe the HSG80 firmware should be your only concern.
