9.1GB Ultra 3 to 36.4GB Ultra320 on Smart Array 431
We now have a critical disk space problem on our SQL server.
The server is a Compaq Proliant ML570 (R01) quad - 700mhz., On Windows NT 4.0, with a Smart Array 431 Controller (current: 6x 9.1GB Ultra 3 Hard Drives in RAID 5). We need to expand the capacity (we wish to use 6x 36.4GB Ultra320), and I have read that simply replacing the drives one at a time and allowing the RAID to rebuild with allow us to expand with this controller. However, I am not familiar with the Compaq Smart Array Controller Hardware and am seeking any helpful advice. Also note, this is on a NT 4.0 box not W2K, so im not sure if a tool exist to help us utilize the new space. Let me thank everyone who helps in advance.
