I have a server with a 641 controller and I want to increase the data space available. There are 4 total drives in a RAID 5 with spare configuration. Can I remove the spare and add it to the array? And if so, can I do it live without loosing data?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Solution
The quick and simple answer is yes/yes.
Is your "data" o na separate Logical Drive?
What OS you running?

Re: Add space to RAID5 with Spare
Thanks for the quick response!
There is only 1 logical drive on the server - it contains the data in 2 partitions: C:\ (OS) & E:\ (Data). It's a Windows 2003 server.
There's a place in the ACU where I can remove the spare. I assume once I remove it, it will show up as an unused physical drive, then I can add it to the Array.
Thanks.

Re: Add space to RAID5 with Spare
Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to remove the spare and add to the existing array to increase storage space?
Thanks in advance!
