Adding another drive to existing array

I installed a forth 72GB 10K U320 Pluggable HD to our Prolient ML350 G3 that is running WIJN2003SBS on Friday evening at 6:00PM. Using the HP utility I stared expanding the array. The program is still running 60+ hours later, is this normal? There is drive activety and we are able to access the server but it is very slow.

Re: Adding another drive to existing array

Hello Kevin,
that looks reasonable. The 'normal' speed is about 15 minutes per gigabyte.

4 disks * 72 GB/disk * 15min/GB / 60min/hr = 72 hr

I think this time is calculated without user load. You can try to set the priority to HIGH during the night, unless you users are working there, too.

Re: Adding another drive to existing array

Thank you. The local tech that I have been working with told me the rate was 2.5Gb per hour for existing data, thus I was expecting completion at around 44 hours.

Re: Adding another drive to existing array

This has been running for over nine days now the drive activity has slowed down but there is no indication that when it will complete. Is there anyway to find out if it is in a loop or when it may complete? I have Virus protection turned off and have not had a backup since this started.
