AntemetA AIX 5.3 F/C 5716 HP EVA5000 cross-site LVM mirror
Hi, my customer currently implements an Oracle solution on AIX 5.3 where storage configuration
is 2 EVA5000s, F/C adapters 5716, HP AntemetA
and cross-site LVM mirror (by means of OS AIX).
Now the mirror works strangely, when we de-present LUNs at one EVA5000 from host, I/O freezes for 4-5 min and the host is unable to
realize quickly that LUNs have gone though
quorum for vg is disabled.
Some SW layer checks the pathes, marks one
as failed, then vice versa, then both are
enabled, etc. though definitely both pathes
(both - because now we still work through one
5716 adapter) should be "Failed".
Something like this:
lshsx> hdisk4, ...vg name:evamirrorvg
pdisk5 ,50001fe1500227a8, ... Failed, fcs0
pdisk3 ,50001fe1500227ad, ... Enabled, fcs0
(and later on you'll see Enabled/Failed,
Enabled/Enabled, etc.)
Similar thing happens when we restore the
mirror by presenting LUNs at this EVA5000 back
to host. We tried to change some attributes of
hdisk4 and hdisk5 (they form cross-site mirror
and hdisk4 is a remote one) and other relevant
AIX devices with slightly different behaviour
of the mirror. But in no case the mirror worked
satisfactory (without intolerable freezing).
Unfortunately, now we can't try more rough,
more hardware methods of breaking the mirror.
It's very important for us to know if such a
solution is realised somewhere successfully and
if there are any docs, advices, hints on this
matter. IBM RedBooks, AntemetA manuals and so
on are already read.
Thanx in advance for any help, clue, reference.
