SolutionGenerally speaking, you can add new disks on fly. You can take out a disk and the array is able to re-distribute data across the other disks. Depends on the number of disks you may or you may not take out the second on (need certain precent of disks available).

Re: Autoraid 12H changing disks.
I would definitely recommend doing this after a GOOD backup during off hours.

Re: Autoraid 12H changing disks.
If you have hot-spare enabled you should be able to remove one disk at a time, wait for the rebuild to complete, then put the disk back in another location.
I would definitely recommend doing this after a
*** GOOD ***backup during off hours.
Load order Top to down and left to right.
Model for 12H
A6=Bus 2 B6 =Bus 3
A5=Bus 0 B5 =Bus 1
A4=Bus 0 B4= Bus 1
A3=Bus 2 B3= Bus 3
A2=Bus 2 B2= Bus 3
A1=Bus 0 B1= Bus 1

Re: Autoraid 12H changing disks.
The preferred configuration for an AutoRaid is to load the disks into the array from the top down, an equal number of disks on each side of the array.
This is for best cooling only.
The internal SCSI buss details are:
Bus 0: Drives A1, A4 & A5
Bus 1: Drives B1, B4 & B5
Bus 2: Drives A2, A3 & A6
Bus 3: Drives B2, B3 & B6
I you load the array top down OR bottom up the busses will be balanced as well as is possible.
The AutoRaid doesn?t care which slots the disk are in.
Upon power up (following an orderly shut down of the AutoRaid) the AutoRaid will auto-discover the disks.
If you wish to reorganize the disks here is a step by step.
1) Shut down the system (not necessary if you want to completely deactivate everything using the AutoRaid)
2) Shut down the array (from the front panel of the array or use ?arraymgr ?s shut
3) Power off the array
4) Rearrange the disk in the preferred locations
5) Power on the AutoRaid (ensure it completes testing and goes ?READY?)
6) Reboot the system
