Autoraid 12h UNSUPPORTED Drive

I have an autoraid 12h with 8 drives 36GB and 4 Drives of 18 GB. After two years without any problem the last week i got the message Firmware needed, i checked out the firmware version and i found HP32. i did the update to the HP60 and i was surprised that all the Drives with 36 GB are "unsupported Drive" and the 18 GB are "Previously used", i tried to include the 36 GB manually but Disk not included.the message on the Panel now is no address table, all the 36 GB have an orange Led and the 18's GB Led are off ,i am searching to update the Disk firmware as i did for the controller and i don't have the procedure.
what do you suggest to resolve this problem?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Autoraid 12h UNSUPPORTED Drive

Don't really know what happens, but I know the latest FW for the 12H was HP62 from early 2001. If firmware is updated, you always need to update the armserver tools too (per patch for hp-ux).

Hope this helps!

Re: Autoraid 12h UNSUPPORTED Drive

Did you install the required s/w patches *prior* to attempting the upgrade? What version of HP-UX are you running. Search for Service Note A3700A-10 & -11.

Re: Autoraid 12h UNSUPPORTED Drive

PHCO_23261 for 10.20
PHCO_23262 for 11.00
PHCO_23263 for 11.11

(all are probably the initial patches and likely replaced)

"...
These patches must be installed before downloading either controller or
disk mechanism firmware to a Model 12H disk array. The prior ARM patches
had a bug that could cause the firmware download to fail leaving one or
more disk modules unusable. All of the data on the disk will be lost."

Hope this helps!

Re: Autoraid 12h UNSUPPORTED Drive

Thank you for your reply,
Concerning the firmware, I update it using third party controller, I used the panel on the autoraid to copy the FW from controller x to controller y, I used this procedure since ARMServer did not respond, it's always initialiazing, when I execute "arraydsp -i" I have this message:
# arraydsp -i
The ARMServer did not respond. It may not be running or it may still be
in the process of initializing
-the led on the disks 36GB are still amber, and always unsupported disk
I tried to include it manually and always the same message not included and unsupported disk,
# uname -a
HP-UX hpXXXX B.10.20 A 9000/871 2011084255 two-user license
Do you have any suggestion? I am searching for the procedure to update the disk mechanism firmware.
Maybe after updating they will be supported.
Thank you

Re: Autoraid 12h UNSUPPORTED Drive

According to the text I posted your array may come corrupted totally.

So you need to install the patches first and update the firmware again (HP62).

Hope this helps!
