Autoraid set up

I have an Autoraid enclosure with a server in a test environment.

How can I get this enclosure up and running?

I know I have to configure LUNs... how much more is there to configure?

Check out the HP SureStore Disk Array 12H Documentation available at docs.hp.com:

Re: Autoraid set up

Actually, you can do everything you need to do from SAM "Disks and Filesystems" -> Disk Devices.
You should see the AutoRAID Disk Controoller; hilite it, and "Actions->Disk Array Maintenance". "Bind LUN" is the LUN creation task. You can actually create larger LUN's from software (either SAM or arraymgr) than you are able to do from the front panel.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Autoraid set up

Hi

First you must create LUNS, from panel, then you must see the luns fotm O.S. (ioscan -fnC disk)
and then create VG, lvols, etc... the easiest way its from SAM.

Re: Autoraid set up

Some options you have to pay attention to:
- rebuild priority (low);
- active hot spare (present);
- WDTR and SDRT (enabled);
- firmware revision: HP62 for 12h and HP27 (or something like this) for 12;
- if any problems AutoRAID will glow yellow and display 'Warning' at the LCD.
There can be only two HVD SCSI controllers in disk array. They can be connected to different host SCSI controllers (recommended) or daisy-chained. Controller SCSI Id selection depends on it. Windows OS can not handle multiple LUN paths.
AutoRAID can have only 8 LUNs: 0-7.
Create them from the front panel (and you can implement all other changes from front panel).
To manage disk array install Array Management Software (ARM)
