Hello All,
I have two controllers for spare with 2 disk enclosures and some 10 disks. I want to build an EVA4000 using that.
So I add them up, connected them and started first controller then the second. first Storage was OK, second was searching for disks. My EMU's gave very strange numbers like (24 or 28 or -A). I have changed the EMU's with same output.
Any idea about that? this is only for testing so not that big a deal, but however it is better if it works.
Thank you!!

Solution
Simon:
Start up procedure:
Start with everthing off.
Power up your Disk shelves first.
Wait 5 minutes
Power up Controllers
Wait for boot up
Input WWID and Checksum
Initialize. (Assuming that this is an un-initialized eva).
Did you have all the proper cables? Backend fibre loop cables? CAN Cables? mirror port cables? and are they all connected correctly?
Please provide additional info and/or diagrams.
Steven

Re: Build EVA4000
Well I have followed this to startup the EVA. but the error remains. Everything is connected, Mirror cable, Cables to the EAB, Fibre channel cables (only one FC switch not 2).
the connection is:
first controller 2B to Enclosure 1 Port 1
Enclosure 1 port 2 to Enclosure 2 port 2
Enclosure 2 port 1 to 2B second controller.
However I found out right now that the EAB of the enclosures are connected one above and one below. Could that be it?
Do you have any EVA 5000 with 2c2d configuration?
