Business Copy - what effect will compression on drive have

Hi

We are using business copy / snaps - but one of our windows drives is extremely low on space and we cannot move any more data off it.

We would like to compress the drive, but are not sure what effect this will have on the business copies.

Does anyone know what will happen when we compress the drive. Would like to know if business copy backs up the files compressed or uncompressed!

will it create more files for Business Copy to back up / will we need more room for our Business Copy backups.

As far as I am concerned it makes no difference for Business Copy whether the drive is compressed by OS or not. It operates on a block level on the array, so it has nothing to do with the OS.

Having said that, however, I don't recommend compressing Windows drives anyway (performance & possible availability issues).
