SolutionBut on VA there is no option to establish SRDF(remote copy of BCV ) .

Ques1: I don't know about EMC's BCV's, but the VA bc's are using their own pointer based solution. If you bc your data, it is available immediately, your are reading the original bits, but your are writing *new* bits.

We use BCV on three arrays and it is quite efficient. The application keeps on running on one node uneffected from the split or merge.
But care must be taken while splitting, both the volumes should be synced completely before split otherwise some of the splitted data will not be useful.
I am not aware about EMC'c BCV but it uses delta copy meaning that only the changes since last split are updated to split copy after merge. It is quite efficient for offline/online application backups without effecting live copies.
