Cache on two controllers?

With both a Smart Array 642 (Host Controller) in a DL380 G4 and a MSA 500 G2 controller.

Will the host controller SA 642 take advantage of Cache (either 64 on board or additional 128) even though it is acting as a "host controller" for the MSA 500 G2? Don't want to put money where it is not needed.

If they BOTH take advantage of having cache, how does that work with two cache points on the same path, one on the SA 642 and another on the MSA 500 G2 controller?
