Can't rebuild array

I Configure MSA2012sa with 8 drives attached to the enclosure.I Use RAID 5 for 8 drives into 1 volume. When i try to test with unplug 1 drive and then plug in again into enclosure, the drive is unknown and not automatically rebuild the array. What's the problem and what should i do?

Re: Can't rebuild array

I suppose that once you removed the Harddrive, the Levelling has started and has finished. So after you added the Harddisk again, the Drive will be shown as Unmapped or Ungrouped.

So you may have to group the Drive back again and that will reconstruct or Level the Data again.

Re: Can't rebuild array

Santhosh D,
an MSA2000 does work a bit different than an EVA - there is no disk group, leveling and so on...

ndra:
The MSA2000 understands that there is still meta-data on the disk drive that you have unplugged and it tries to protect the data. This is called a "Leftover Disk Drive".

To clear metadata from drives using the Web interface.:
- Select Manage > Utilities > Disk Drive Utilities > Clear Metadata
.

We have the same situation on msa 2324, but cleaning a metadata from just reinserted disk does not start the rebuilding and the disk marked AVAIL

How to start the rebuild?
