Changing RAID Level

Cheers Greg,

I think RAID 5 would suit.

Next up.

Since I now have 4 spare drives and I am shaking just thinking about the current RAID0 setup, is it possible to add one of the drives and change the RAID level to 5 for the current array? NetRAID assistant tells me that it's not possible but I don't see why.

Re: Changing RAID Level

Owen,
If you are set up as a RAID 0, then in netraid assist, highlight the LD 0 and one of the other hdds. Then under tools you should have the change raid level option to migrate to RAID 5.

It might also be under add capacity. I've never tried to go from RAID 0 spanning two hdds however.

Re: Changing RAID Level

Excellent.

Click the drives like you said. Then click Logical Drv up the on the top menu -> select change config -> Select Add Capacity

Choice box -> What RAID level

I select

5

HP NetRAID Version B.02.03

Thanks again!

Re: Changing RAID Level

Owen,

Thats correct. It will probably take 1-2 hours to rebuild your RAID 0 to a RAID 5. Leave the system up and running until it completes. Then you can confirm in the netraid log that the rebuild is complete.

Cheers.
