Ciscoworks problems with 431 Controller?

Has anyone heard of incompatibility issues with Ciscoworks installed on a server using a mirrored drive set using a 431 Smart Array Controller? Ciscoworks installed fine on a server without any kind of raid configuration. When installed on a Proliant ML370 with a 431 controller, Ciscoworks could not install.

we are about to install CW2K LMS bundle on a proliant 360 with mirrored drives and trying to use a smart array 421 as a RAID controlloer but cannot get the OS install to recognise drives either with or without the 431 controller installed .

The only thing we could do was to upgrade the server to Windows 2000 and use a new Ciscoworks version that's compatible with Windows 2000. Previously, we had a version that could only be installed on NT 4.0 SP5. Cisco said that under the previous version of Ciscoworks, the Compaq utilities that get installed with SmartStart conflict with the Ciscoworks software.

Sounds like Cisco were spinning you a yarn there.
The current version of Cisco Works LMS that supports win2000 is just an update (v1.2) of the 1.0 version that supported NT SP5. I've installed loads on Compaq servers with the Insight Agents installed.
The only issue you could have is the same for all NMS applications, is that if you have an Insight MANAGER using the standard SNMP ports (162/163) already then a new package won't be able to listen on those ports, eg. Cisco Works, HP Openview, Tivoli, or anything else you want to install.

As for the mirrored installation, it turns out the 431 controllers weren't doing anything with Ultra3 drives as there was no Lo-Voltage Differential cable and it wouldn't use the backplane to run the drives at Ultra2 spec.
Instead the Integrated Array controller was running the mirrored drives.
I have installed the base CD One but as this is a brand new server the ODBC drivers need upgrading to load Resource Mgr Essentials. Will try and keep this posted.

Ian again.
Cisco Works all working fine but the controller does not seem to be doing anything, the Integrated controller is doing the RAID 1 mirroring.
No issues at all with CW2K.
