SolutionThe QuickSpecs for the 4300 shelves are here:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10624_div/10624_div.HTML
They state:
"All Ultra320, Ultra3, and Ultra2 devices from HP are compatible with one another so customers can mix and match components in the same storage enclosure or server."
That document also lists the part numbers of the drives.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: Compaq StorageWorks 4324R Dual Ultra3 14 Drive Cage
340825-001 is the assembly number for the SmartArray 3200 RAID controller.
These use VHDCI connectors. The 4300 shelf also uses VHDCI connectors, so you would need to get something like HP part number 341174-B21 -External 6 ft. Offset VHDCI to Offset VHDCI SCSI cable.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: Compaq StorageWorks 4324R Dual Ultra3 14 Drive Cage
129803-B21 is just a SCSI card as opposed to a RAID Controller...
It should work faster with this, but if you want to actually create RAID disks etc. you'd be better going for one of the newer SmartArray controllers.
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/arraycontrollers/index.html
just check they're supported in your server...
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Compaq StorageWorks 4324R Dual Ultra3 14 Drive Cage
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/arraycontrollers/smartarray642/index.html
Trying to remember though, I dont recall seeing anything in the specs about this server supporting PCIe.
And to summarize everything:
I can use the Compaq StorageWorks 4324R with the 340825-001 SmartArray 3200 RAID controller. To connect both units, I can use a VHDCI connectors like part number 341174-B21 -External 6 ft. Offset VHDCI to Offset VHDCI SCSI cable.
Only down side is that the SmartArray 3200 RAID controller is ultra2 so it will be slower than if i used a ultra3.
