Configuring Raid 5 in MSA30 connected to a rp3440 with a SA
I need to configure raid 5 in a rp3440 system (hp-ux) directly connected to an MSA 30 with a smart array controller. How can I do this? Your help is highly appreciated.
Best regards,
Rana

Re: Configuring Raid 5 in MSA30 connected to a rp3440 with a SA
The management wants me to create h/w raid-5 since the system has a Smart Array Controller and the MSA30 is connected through it. So how can I do this?
I need to configure raid-5 not mirror. So what will be the easiest way to do this? Can I configure raid-5 using LVM?
Best regards,
Rana

Re: Configuring Raid 5 in MSA30 connected to a rp3440 with a SA
quote the man page:
"-R To create a logical drive with the specified
RAID level. The supported RAID levels are 0,
1, 1+0, 5, and ADG. The lowest logical drive
number not already in use will be given to
the newly created logical drive, starting
from 0. To determine the hardware path and
device file for the logical drive, use the
ioscan -kfn command. The logical drives are
displayed in the same order as in the
saconfig output."
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
