Continuous access doubt

Hi,
We are in the process of taking the copy of production Oracle database files from XP12k to the DR XP12k using continuous access.
Do we need to create a same volume group as of production in DR so that the CA replication can happen?
My thinking is that only we specify CU:LDEV number for the CA/XP replication.

Thanks,
Srini

Re: Continuous access doubt

Hi,
yes you need to create exactly the same volume group, meant exactly the same LDEVS on the SVOL side (identical sizes on the block level). For LUSE volumes it means that the SVOL LUSE needs to have exactly the same LDEVs in the exact order as on PVOL
the pain is one part of the reality

Re: Continuous access doubt

I meant the LVM volume group not the device group. We have the same size LDEV for SVOL also. Did the LVM volume group required for my purpose?

Thanks,

Re: Continuous access doubt

1. if you have LVM you can do it without the CA via the LVM mirror
2. the SVOL is ReadOnly and thus not usable for the hosts

for more details you could look at this XP continuous access and SG Metrocluster documentation
