Create a smaller RAID

Let's say we have a 4 drive 72GB RAID 10. Total space will be would be 144GB. Let's say I want to create a logical drive of 72GB but use all 4 drives. Is this possible?

I will be using Smart Array 6404 with BBWC on DL380 G4.

Re: Create a smaller RAID

hi,

any logical drive you carve out from your raid 10 array will be striped across all of the drives in the array.

Re: Create a smaller RAID

You can do that with no problem in this Smart Array. You can create an ARRAY to group the 4 disks and then out of the array you can have different volumes (luns), so in your case the first lun can use 72 GB, and the remaining space will be available in case you want to create more luns or extend the one you created before.
