Creating LUNs on the FC30 disk array

I have a FC30 disk array with two LUNs in use.
Two questions:
Can I crate a new LUN while the others are operating(They are Informix DB chunk)?
When the LUN is created does the HP-UX 11.00 will create the LUNs' device files automatically?

Re: Creating LUNs on the FC30 disk array

Hi, Eduardo,
Yes, you can do a new LUN On line, of course, in new disks. Probably rebuilding of new LUN will affect performance of existing LUN's.
For install new device files, you must execute ioscan -f before rebuild is done. When a new line appears, the do an insf command without options and new device files will be created.

Re: Creating LUNs on the FC30 disk array

You can create a LUN while others are in use.
After binding has completed, run "ioscan" to identify a newly configured LUN and "insf -e -Cdisk" to create a device file for that LUN at the prompt.

# ioscan -Cdisk -fn
# cd /dev ; insf -e -Cdisk

Hope this helps,
