DL380 G2 - SMART ARRAY 5i

Why doesn't my raid-controller do an automatic rebuild to online spare disk when a disk in the raid fails ?
Please look at diag.reports attached.
ACU, logical view, shows a failed array with a spare. Physical view shows 6 disks, 4 online, one failed, one spare.
The spare is still a spare, allthough the failed disk have been failed for at least 3 days.
However - when I look at the server, I notice activity in all disks, including the spare. I would have imagined that the spare would be idle - no activity.
No activity on the failed disk ofcourse.
(Bare with my poor english) :-)

Hi perkrim,

I looked over the diagnostic files that you sent in. The ADU report that you included indicates that the online spare has been activated and is completely rebuilt at this time. This is why you are seeing activity on the online spare.
When you replace the failed drive this spare will go back to a dormant mode and the new drive will rebuild.
I will mention that the 5i controller firmware you have is quite far out of date and should be updated. Please follow the link below to update this firmware.
