DS2700 drives 0 and 1 swapping around

Hi,

We have a HP DL380 G8 running Windows server 2008 R2 connected to a HP DS2700 via SAS operating in single domain mode.

When we reboot, from time to time  , drives 0 & 1will  swap around . So drive 1 becomes 0 and drive 0 becomes 1.

This is urgent so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

regards

Eric

Do you mean that Logical Disk 0 becomes 1 and Logical Disk 1 becomes 0?

What is the ACU Version you are running? The Firmware for D2700 is up to the date?

Re: DS2700 drives 0 and 1 swapping around

Thanks for your reply.

Yes the logical drives shown in windows disk manager will swap around when we reboot.

The system behaves normally though (boots ok , can see drives) but it is not something that should happen and we dont want to put the system into production.

The disk config as as follows.

Internal to server:

2 disk in RAID 1 mirror. - Disk 0

6 disks in raid 5. - Disk 1

external ds2700:

25 disks in RAID6 array Disk 2.

Correction from previous email ; Disk 0 and 2 are swapping around.

The ACU version is 9.10.22. We have updated the drivers on the server.

How do you update the firmware on the DS2700?

Re: DS2700 drives 0 and 1 swapping around

This appears to be the latest version for server attached shelfs:

Hope this helps!

Re: DS2700 drives 0 and 1 swapping around

Hi Eric,

I would recommend to upgrade the
D2700 Firmware to: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3884323&swItem=MTX-1a2d0cd148a14b388cd04f29fd&prodNameId=3884324&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=1

(Same link as provided by Torsten.)

Moreover,
Array Configuration Utility: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=468780&swItem=MTX-332d5ba4f7ed4d8ab043593ff4&prodNameId=468781&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=1

Firmware for Storage Controller (Assuming P822):

Even after updating these, if you are facing the same issue. I would request you to collect
HPS Report: http://update.external.hp.com/HPS/HPSreports/
Generate latest ADU Report and open a Case with HP Technical Support.

Please, keep us posted how it goes! :)
