Dell/EMC CX500 Opinions

My company is looking to upgrade our enterprise storage and are considering the Dell/EMC CX500 to replace our current EMC Symmetrix 3930 and 3430 storage arrays and consolidate Windows and UNIX level storage requirements. Anyone have any experience and/or opinions on this unit??

Thanks for any and all feedback

Re: Dell/EMC CX500 Opinions

Well, I wonder why you ask this question in an HP storage forum!

My advise is to have a closer look at the HP EVA5000.
It is a perfect fit for Windows and Unix and has very nice features like online LUN extension, virtualization and more.

Thanks Peter.

I posted here as I'm most concerned how it interfaces with HP 9000 servers and how well it plays with HP-UX. Plus, I trust the judgement of the HP formum members above all others!

Re: Dell/EMC CX500 Opinions

I can give you two advices.

1. If you want to hear from HP-UX guys ask them in the HP-UX General Forum.

2. If you care about availability, serviceability, security etc. don├в t replace a Symmetrix by a Clariion!
Did you know that the Flare code of the CX300, 500 and 700 runs on Windows?
Serious arrays run some flavor of UNIX or Assembler. Some manufacturers are also heading towards Linux, but Windows ├в ┬ж
If you like to deal with one vendor only, I would suggest (again) you have a look at the hp arrays. See the EVA5000 or for highest possible availability on earth the XP128/XP1024.
