Re: Directions for upgrade EVA8000 from 4 enclosures to 8 enclosures with 2 loop-back switches.

Sounds good, thank you everyone!

I am currently running command view EVA 5.0. How do I go about obtaining the latest release? Where can I download it from?

And yes, making sure we have a full and inc backup of all the data prior to. I just wanted to realize all possibilities and the likeness of losing any data.

Hi,
without any license changes you can upgrade to the CVE 6.02 version, which is minimum:

Re: Directions for upgrade EVA8000 from 4 enclosures to 8 enclosures with 2 loop-back switches.

It tells me its a patch for 8.0 (or 7.0, etc) when I try to run this update.

I need the core suite installer.

Any ideas?

Here it V8.0:

Watch out. You must uninstall any old CV version manually before you go to version 8, because it uses a different installer.

Hi,
According to the the EVA compatibility reference
http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01494607/c01494607.pdf

, you can stay at the Command view version 6.02 for a while (it is compatible with 1 before the latest controller firmware 6.110, which is still supported - was not deactivated)

Re: Directions for upgrade EVA8000 from 4 enclosures to 8 enclosures with 2 loop-back switches.

Ok, I dont have the firmware version handy, but I know the current CVE version is 5.0.

Thanks for the site but it appears to be down right now. LOL Hopefully it comes up soon.

What firmware updates are recommended at this point, and how long do they take? I read that the disk firmware for my size could take 6 hours itself! Granted that appears to be online, but I dont want to push my downtime window...

Re: Directions for upgrade EVA8000 from 4 enclosures to 8 enclosures with 2 loop-back switches.

Hi,
the firmware 6110 support document is here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01035871&dimid=1446033282&dicid=alr_jun07&jumpid=em_alerts/us/jun07/all/xbu/emailsubid/mrm/mcc/loc/rbu_category/alerts

it can be downloaded from here:
ftp://15.192.32.69/

the HDD firmware bundle from here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3351789&prodTypeId=329290&prodSeriesId=3302267&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=54

can you check the current controller firmware pls? If it is above the 5.031, it can be online upgraded. If it is pretty old, it cannot be upgraded directly to 6.110 and the first step would be probably offline (aprox. 30 minutes for the upgrade itself). From then the whole upgrade procedure is online with no downtime HDD firmware upgrade included
