On one disk of the array I got following message:
"Port 1I, Box 1, Bay 2 ... S.M.A.R.T. predictive failure errors have been detected in the factory Monitor and Performance data. SOLUTION: Please replace this drive when conditions permit."
Is there nothing I can do but replace the drive?
Thanks in advance for your kind help.

Re: Disk SMART error
Unless you just happen to have a cleanroom equipped for extreme-precision electro-mechanical work and Magnetic Force Microscopy, a well-equipped electronics lab and access to the disk manufacturer's proprietary information...

Re: Disk SMART error
Remove the faulty disk and replace with a new disk marking it as reserve.

Re: Disk SMART error
I am afraid of you need to replace your disk, SMART is very generic error, in my opinion situation is hopeless for people who is not expert/pro about disk rescue. .
Of course in this situation most of disks' data can be saved for disk specialists. If you do not need really data on them just replace it..

Re: Disk SMART error
