EVA 3000 or 5000

Hello,

I discovered a soft diag failure on a HSV controller.
Does somebody knows what it is and how it can be resolved?

Greets Jerry.

Re: EVA 3000 or 5000

Hello Syam,

Thanks for your attention.

Unfornatly i have to wait till the next visit at the customer site.
I hope it is triggered to the controllers eventlog.
Furthermore the event needs attention but it's not critical.

I hope you can find something without further details.

Regards J.

Re: EVA 3000 or 5000

Hi Jerry,

There are mainly 2 kinds of diags in a HSV controller. They are

1. Built-in Self Test (BIST) diagnostics
2. Module Integrated Self Test (MIST) diagnostics

BIST diagnostics are the first software to run when the Enterprise Storage System hardware initializes. The goal of the BIST is to verify that the controller functions well enough to support the execution of the functional software. To accomplish this purpose, BIST tests all components attached directly to the PowerPC and those accessible through the local bus on the Quasar chip.

The diagnostics that run after initialization of the functional image are referred to as the Module Integrated Self Test (MIST). The MIST diagnostics verify all the devices and interconnecting buses that were not tested during BIST.

Since there is no detailed information available at present I can only guess about your problem. I guess it is a BIST error. Detailed analysis is possible if we can get the exact event code.
