EVA 4400 Maximum LUN size

I heard ceiling has been moved up from 2 TB. Does anyone know what is it now? Maybe a reference pointer to documentation for that? Went through the 4400 User guide and found nothing.

Thanks.

Re: EVA 4400 Maximum LUN size

Hm. The QuickSpecs are quiet on this, too.

I've checked some slides from a New Product Introduction training I've attended some time ago and it says:
""Supports maximum 2TB virtual disk"".

There are rumors that this might be lifted in the future, but this also requires changes on the hosts. For example, the host device drivers need to deal with the change, too. Maybe some mid-layer or file system code as well.

And do not forget that the old MBR-style partition table cannot describe disks larger than 2 TeraBytes. One has to choose a different format.

Some operating systems cannot even deal with 2TB SCSI LUNs.

Re: EVA 4400 Maximum LUN size

Hi,

I don't know about the 4400, but I too heard rumours about an update for previous EVAs that would remove the 2TB limitation.

If the code base follows that used for the SAS based SmartArray controllers (P400 for example) then the new limit would be 8 zettabytes - but that's complete supposition on my part !

Cheers,

Rob
