EVA 4400 upgrade
I'm about to upgrade our SAN enviroment. I have the follwing EVA, switches etc:
2 EVA 4400 running CA with fw 09501000
3 HP SAN switch 4/16 with fw v6.1.0h
1 HP SAN switch 8/24 with fw v6.1.0h
2 SAN appliance servers with CV-EVA 9.01
This is diveded on two locations with LAN and long range fiber access.
Mainly we have a vmware enviroment but some physical proliant with windows server 2003
We have two c7000 with BL480 blades.
I have already upgraded both WOCP and am about to continue upgrade with CV-EVA, then secondary EVA and if everything works well production EVA and the switches. Server drivers/firmware will be upgraded also.
Do the forum have any suggestions?
Regards
Magnus

Re: EVA 4400 upgrade
More information is needed.
Are you running CA between the arrays ?
Please note that if you upgrade to XCS 09522000 it is an OFFLINE upgrade which requires full power cycle.

Re: EVA 4400 upgrade
If you read the Updating Product Software link: http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01846362/c01846362.pdf
Page 37 regarding suspend operations when doing upgrades in a CA setup.

Re: EVA 4400 upgrade
How do I easiest disable isl links?
How does log size work, it says 102.4mb but I guess its gonna log until disk space runs out? When disabling CA that is.
Is the switch upgrade straight to 6.2.1 or do I have to upgrade to some firmaware before. Cant find any good guide for upgrade.

Re: EVA 4400 upgrade
For disabling ISL links you can just disable ports in the switches - i prefer disabling the CA zone instead.
When you suspend the CA group it will log to disk, and merge when you resume the replication. - It will log until i reaches the specified log disk limit, or the diskgroup runs full.
You can upgrade directly to 6.2.1 from 6.1.0h
