I have a customer who has a EVA5000 2C6D running VCS 3.028. He wishes to buy an EVA 8000, but using the existing Cabinet,Shelves and disks.
1. Is their an White paper of the methodology on upgrading from 5000 to an 8000?
2. Once he has upgraded to an EVA8000 using existing shelves and disk, does he have to reload the data back onto the EVA?
3. Does HP have to do the upgrade?
4. Any ideas on how long it takes?

Solutionhttp://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00610510/c00610510.pdf
The main issue usually is not technical but administrative: How to get everything in a maintenance contract!
Most customers preffer installing a new EVA8000 and return the old EVA5000.
Cheers
