EVA 8000 2C2D UPGRADE TO 2C6D

Hello all , i need some help in order to upgrade eva8000 2c2d to 2c6d with xcs v5.020. I need loop switches (2 i think)and upgrade to xcs v5.11 at least. Is it possible to do these online?

Do i have disk enclosures connected to the same address bus id as before the upgrade?

Any danger for data loss?

(All began after first's controller both blower and cache batteries failure. Elements replaced but the leds still shows failure. Is it serious to upgrade the firmware in order to solve these failures? ) .

I appreciate any help !!

Hi,

You need to ensure that everything is working correctly before you start upgrading anything, otherwise you could get into trouble...

Exactly what state are things in at the moment ? You say LEDs show failure, but what does Command View EVA say ?

Hi Rod , thanks for reply

Both blowers on Command View are in "Unknown"
One battery is in "Good state" and "Charging"
the other is in "Unknown"
and overall baterry status is "Failed"

Did you follow the correct procedures when replacing the parts ?

For the batteries, if you installed new ones with the controllers turned off, the bad status can get transferred to the new batteries...

Hi again Rob
I turned off eva because of my firmware version (5.020), for the batteries to change.
Am i wrong?

But you are supposed to do that for XCS < 6.000:

""New Features and/or Issues Addressed in XCS v6.000
...
* It is no longer necessary to shut down the controller when replacing a battery.""

Re: EVA 8000 2C2D UPGRADE TO 2C6D

My mistake... I was thinking about EVA3/5000s rather than an 8000...
