SolutionMPIO "support" is provided natively in Windows 2008.
"DSM" or Device Specific Module is the piece that allows you to use MPIO with your storage array.
The short story is, you need the DSM for the EVA. Microsoft, "the OS", does not provide dsm's... only the mpio framework for dsm's to work.

Re: EVA6400 supplying disk to X3800
You can use one of the following DSMs for the EVA on the W2008 Storage Server:
HP MPIO FF DSM Multipath v3.03.00 HP
HP MPIO FF DSM Multipath v4.00.00 HP
HP MPIO FF DSM Multipath v4.01.00 HP
Microsoft MPIO DSM Multipath Microsoft
I would go with the latest HP DSM!
For details always consult SPOCK on http://www.hp.com/storage/spock
Steve, starting with Windows 2008 Microsoft does supply a native DSM, witch can be used for the EVA.

Re: EVA6400 supplying disk to X3800
If you check the "X1000 / X3000 Series Network Storage System Connectivity Summary" in SPOCK http://www.hp.com/storage/spock you can read:
Fiber channel connectivity is used for direct attach storage but more commonly with SAN connected gateway servers. The most common protocol used on FC links is the fiber channel protocol, or FCP. Fiber channel connected devices include but are not necessarily limited to the following devices. Device compatibility should be verified by confirming that the device is compatible with Windows Server 2008.
