EVA8100 Support for LUNS greater than 2 TB
I have tried searching the web and ITRC for this info. So far I have not come across anything definitive.
With the release of Windows Server 2008 RC and now R2, and the use of Guid Partition Tables (GPT). Does the EVA8100 support GPT in order to present LUNS greater than 2 TB.
I remember there were stability issues with presenting luns greater than 2 TB to older versions of the EVA. The most stable configuration was to stick to 2047mb max basic disks.
Has this now been resolved? Or maybe there are other stable alternatives?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Joe

Re: EVA8100 Support for LUNS greater than 2 TB
Hi Joe,
As far as I'm aware the maximum size of a VDisk (LUN) on an EVA8100 is still 2TB, actually 2047MB.
In order to go above this, you have to combine LUNs at the OS level. I'm guessing that's what GPT allows you to do.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: EVA8100 Support for LUNS greater than 2 TB
GPT is needed to describe disks larger than 2TB. As the EVA8100 cannot present vdisks larger than 2047GB I don't see a need for GPTs.
Maybe you meant "dynamic disk" to combine multiple vdisks?

Re: EVA8100 Support for LUNS greater than 2 TB
Hi Uwe and Rob,
Thanks for your response.
Uwe - do you happen to know if combining luns is stable on the eva 8100s?
Many thanks,
Joe
